We have an immediate opening in our Donor and Public Relations Department in the capacity of Education and Public Relations Coordinator. Job Descriptions

In order to provide Safe Shelter and find Happy Homes for all of the animals that the Saskatoon SPCA cares for each year, it takes a team comprised of numerous departments.

Animal Care Attendants

Animal Care Attendants are responsible for much of the behind the scenes work with the animals, and handle all duties relating to their medical care.  This includes vaccinations, deworming, and other medical concerns that may present themselves during the time the animal is in the shelter.  They are also responsible for conducting the Health and Behaviour Assessments that enable an animal to be considered adoptable.

Adoption Representatives

Adoption Representatives are the staff members who clean and sanitize the Adoption Centre every day, and provide the animals with fresh food and water.  Most importantly they are the staff members who will greet potential adopters once they enter our Adoption Centre, and assist them with viewing and socializing the adoptable animals.

Adoption Counsellors

Adoption Counsellors are the ones who answer incoming phone calls, take lost reports, provide information on the adoptable animals, and process the incoming and outgoing animals.  They are also happy to assist you with your purchases from Bobo's Boutique, your monetary or in-kind donations, as well as letting you know of any other ways that you can help support Saskatoon's only full admission animal shelter.

Animal Protection Officers

Animal Protection Officers, or APO's, play a very important role in the welfare of the animals in Saskatoon and its surrounding area.  APO's are responsible for investigating any complaints of animal cruelty, and ensuring the animal is no longer in distress.  Depending on the severity and validity of the cruelty report, they will take steps ranging from providing education to the owners, up to seizing custody of the animals and laying charges under the Animal Protection Act of Saskatchewan, 1999.

Education and Public Relations Coordinator

The position of Education and Public Relations Coordinator will work under the direction of the Shelter Director to manage all aspects of the Saskatoon SPCA’s Education and Public Relations Department.  This position will work collaboratively with the Shelter Director, The Donor and Public Relations Coordinator, the Volunteer and Public Relations Coordinator and Committees of the Board of Directors to enhance the image of the Saskatoon SPCA, improve community support and to develop humane education programs to foster harmonious relationships between animals and humans.
