Lost & Found Procedures
Individuals may file a lost report by telephone or in person. It is recommended that the individual provide a current photo of their lost pet to accompany their lost report and to personally visit the SPCA to view animals in our Animal Care and Pound area as often as they can. When this is not possible, we encourage individuals to call our office during regular business hours to follow up on any new incoming animals that may not have been referenced against current lost reports yet.
Remember, while your animal may be unique to you, our staff see an average of 96 unique animals per week! The more details you can provide in describing your pet, the easier it will be for our staff to assist you in identifying your lost companion if it is brought to our shelter.
After the first 72 hours, if an animal has not been reunited with it's owner and has not come into our shelter, the owners will be required to pay a $10.00 administrative fee to have their lost report held on file for up to one year from the date the animal went missing. This report may be cancelled at the owners request at anytime.
When you do find your pet, please remember to cancel all reports that you have placed, especially at the Saskatoon SPCA. Take down all posters and advise other people/agencies who may be on the lookout for your pet that the search is over.
