Communications Coordinator

 

The Saskatoon Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is hiring for the position of Communications Coordinator. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading our organization through transformative change.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Reporting to the Fund Development Manager, the Communications Coordinator will oversee and ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of communications internal and external to our organization • Create and distribute marketing material that supports business strategy • Monitor and advance public awareness of humane practices • Assist in the development of multi-media campaigns, public awareness and community engagement initiatives, and fund development activities • Develop, design, and grow the SPCA’s presence across social media platforms • Monitors and analyse social media trends • Triage and respond to inquiries from the public and media organizations • Conduct interviews with members of the news media as spokesperson for the SPCA • Develop and coordinate media releases • Cultivate and develop new relationships with media outlets across various mediums and markets • Find new and innovative ways to tell the SPCA story • Work with and safely handle a variety of animals in conducting daily duties • Coordinate and foster relationships with our team of volunteer photographers
QUALIFICATIONS: • Degree or Diploma in Marketing or a related field
• Two to four years' experience operationalizing a multi-media communications plan, including content creation and strategy development
• Demonstratable aptitude and knowledge of web technologies such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, G-Suite, Constant Contact, and other content creation and analytic platforms
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, including a careful attention to detail
• Ability to communicate complex ideas, concepts, and information to a variety of audiences
• First-hand experience in web development and maintenance
• Proven ability to organize, prioritize and meet tight deadlines when dealing with multiple projects
• Demonstrated success working independently and within a team
• Must have a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License
Other skills and experiences considered an asset include:
• Shelter medicine and an understanding of humane practices
• Photographic, video, and graphic design
• Formal crisis communications training

Salary: $21.01 - $22.08 per hour
