Animal Superheroes
We love our supporters! Read on to learn more about the community members from far and wide who make caring for 4 000 animals a year possible - they're the real Animal Superheroes.
At only 11 years old, Kelsie has created a charity called the Paws n Claws Food Fund for homeless animals as her way of giving back. Kelsie donated $25 of her own birthday money and has raised another $100 to buy food and toys for the animals at the Saskatoon SPCA. Kelsie has now made three separate food donations, and each time she visits, she makes sure to meet and pet every cat and every dog on the adoption floor! Thank you, Kelsie!
Ralphie is so happy to be going home with a cozy blanket from the generous folks at Urban Barn! Their #BlanketTheCountry campaign collected donations from thoughtful customers to provide cozy blankets to send home with shelter animals as they were adopted and help them settle in to their new homes. Thanks to generous community members, Ralphie and many other critters will be even more warm and comfortable as they relax with their new families, just in time for the holidays!
Our friend Andy Ross with 96.3 Cruz FM participated in the 2018 Stantec Shootout for Charity, and picked the Saskatoon SPCA as his benefiting charity of choice! While Andy's puck-shooting skills during a Saskatoon Blades intermission at SaskTel Centre didn't quite make the cut, he did take home first prize and $500 towards the SPCA for his entry in the promotional video challenge! In addition to the prize money, $4 from every adult ticket and $2 from every children’s ticket sold to this game went towards helping the animals in our care. Thank you, Andy!
On November 2nd, Steve was traveling between Saskatoon and Turtleford when he discovered two little balls of fluff on the side of the highway. Little Ky and Nia were scared, hungry, and initially ran from Steve, not knowing who he was or that he was there to help them. It did not take long before they were both rescued and brought into a warm vehicle and fed their first meal in what must have been a while.
Steve brought both adorable pups to the Saskatoon SPCA where they received their first medical exams and treatments, and of course nutritious food and loving care in a foster home. Both have now found their furever homes with wonderful families!
Without Steve, the future for Nia and Ky was not very bright, but because of heroes like him, they now have a fresh start and a chance to find new loving homes.
Thank you, Steve, for your compassion, and for helping these two adorable pups get their second chance.
Our friends at the Rent It Store are community support at its finest! Staff collected donations of wet cat food during the holiday season, which was matched by their employer! We were so pleasantly surprised by their delivery just five days before Christmas - thanks to the Rent It Store, our critters will be sure to have full bellies on Christmas!
We are so excited to receive a brand new donation cart from our friends at Princess Auto Saskatoon! Thanks to one of our recent adopters, Shawn, and his team's generosity, we have a shiny new wagon to help transport large donations to our adoptions floor... as well as large litters of puppies for their weigh-ins and vaccinations! Thank you, Shawn, for your kindness and support. You can see how excited Honey Bear's babies were to take a spin in their new ride!
Our friends at Hudson's Canadian Tap House generously matched individual employee donations over the holiday season to help animals in need! Greg, the owner of Hudson's (and dog-dad to Griffin) stopped by to present our Fundraising Coordinator, Megan, with a generous gift of over $1000!
There are so many reasons to visit the shelter! Long-time volunteer Brenda just dropped off a fresh batch of her handmade cat beds, which are available for purchase in our store with 100% of proceeds benefiting the animals in our care. <3
