Adopting

Our animals need shelter, responsibility, and most importantly, love.

Good news - they have a lot of love to give back in return! In fact, they were MADE for Lovin' you!

The need for safe, loving homes for Saskatoon animals never goes away, so please consider offering a home to one of our animals.

Indigo Annie, pictured on slide 2, was the case that originally captured Shannon Tweed's heart, and exemplifies the meaning of “Safe Shelter.  Happy Home.”

In February 2011, Indigo Annie, a puppy from the Clavet area, was found when a Saskatoon SPCA Animal Protection Officer responded to a call regarding an injured dog.  Originally believed to have been attacked by another animal, examination at the Small Animal Clinic revealed that Annie had been shot, most likely by a handgun.  After numerous procedures to address her wounds and swelling, Annie was returned to the Saskatoon SPCA in hopes of finding a caring person to adopt her.  We are ecstatic to report that on April 1, 2011, Annie found her happy home!

The choice to adopt an animal and provide it with a Happy Home is one that can bring joy into the lives of both you and your new pet, but it is not one that should be rushed into.  You should ensure you have done an analysis of your home, your lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a companion animal.

Once you have determined what type of companion animal is the best fit for you, the best thing then is to start looking through the Saskatoon SPCA's adoptable animals.  You can do so by clicking on the appropriate category listing to the left, or by visiting the shelter in person.
